About project

The Challenge

The S104 works proceeded smoothly, requiring only minor remedials and cleansing. The S38 works, however, presented more challenges, particularly to the north of the site where standing water accumulated and levels prevented new gullies from connecting into the existing on-site network.

The Solution

Advance Two surveyed both on- and off-site carriageways and designed a new highway drainage network connecting into the existing system. The highways authority reviewed and approved the solution, which was largely installed within soft landscaping and pedestrian footways. This approach avoided costly carriageway excavation and reconstruction, minimised disruption to residents, and allowed the S38 to be placed directly onto maintenance. Meanwhile, the S104 was adopted by Yorkshire Water with a reduced maintenance period.
